This scholar is at the forefront of her field. This book is well researched, well written and among one of the earliest books of its kind in her field. I highly recommend this book to specialists. The non-specialist might not be as interested, but I can assure you that you're getting amazing information and it doubles as a really great reference to guide you to other research as well. What's most fascinating about it is that she writes about every Bantu tribe she can (the book is then sub-divided into sections on types of rituals) so you get both dizzying detail and broad, analytical strokes at the same time. It's a seminal work of scholarship which is about the best you can say, isn't it? Highly recommended.
