The perfect clipper ! Wouldn’t buy nothing else ! Have had a pair for years and decide to get another pair for extra !just used this today for a half sharpei half border collie dog. he has a very thick woolly undercoat, and about 4 to 5 inches of long thick hair, like a regular collie. i was trully amazed at how well it groomed him, i clipped his entire body. , half way through, it got a little warm, and i gave us both a ten minute break, but it works amazing on dogs.does not overheat !!!!!! The groomers that usually clip him with profesional dog clippers stop 4 to five times because thier 200 dollar pro clippers will start to overheat because he is double coated. i read the reviews about clipping dogs with this product and was on the fence because some said it was great for dogs, and others said not. I took a chance and it paid off, littterally, these clippers cost less than one time at the groomers, and you cant tell the groomers did not clip him. in fact one of the owners of the dog grooming business said he was going to buy them. truly impressive.Nice light duty clippers and not horribly expensive. I use these to compliment my very old Oster sunbeams which are huge noisy and get very hot. Since these aren't that expensive I ordered another pair instead of just extra blades. Nice to take to the public places, shows and stable since they aren't big or that expensive should they walk off. They have a good long cord and fit in a pocket, but you have to drag the cord along, which is fine for me. Most times any battery powered thing I want to use will run out of power half way through anyway.Would I tackle a huge body clipping job with these? probably not. However work great for ears face, leg clipping and bridle paths if you go slowly. These are very quiet in comparison to a pair of sunbeams.I used to have a pair of oster A-10's that wore out. These are a very nice replacement for those. These work very well on my horse, I use these to trim around her legs, muzzle and bridal path. They do get a little warm after a while and they do make noise but not that loud, your horse should get used to it. Comes with a nice size bottle of oil as well and an instruction DVD. I wouldn't recommend a body trim due to the heat up but for small areas they work great. They don't however come with blade guards, I was lucky that my previous ones fit.I bought this clipper to clip my 31 year old mare. She gets very shaggy in the winter and no longer sheds off in the spring. My smaller battery operated clippers were overwhelmed, and my ANCIENT Sunbeam clippers finally gave out. These clippers did a good job. Since her hair grows with many cow licks, twists and turns, I still have to sort of work at it. I was happy with them though. They are not too heavy and do not get hot. I think they are a very good value. They seem sturdy and have a good feel to them. They are not too noisy. The only negative - i could not get the plastic attachment to trim her hair longer to work. Just set the blade to trim longer, and that's ok.These clippers cut my bridle path like a hot knife through butter. The clipper does make a "clicking" sound when turning the power on but it is instantaneous and no more than the powerful motor energizing. My horse didn't flinch at the power on sound.Purchased this Iron Horse model to replace my old Wahl Stable Pro clippers that served well and faithfully for 30 years. Expecting the same dependable, good quality after such a long while was evidently my mistake. The Iron Horse carrying case is chintzy, its plastic clasp dubiously frail. The motor chassis, now metal instead of the old style plastic, is considerably heavier, uncomfortably vibrates in hand, and heats uncomfortably as well. Also, the underside of the chassis is now 'updated' to a shiny, reflective, silver-finish metal which my horses, veteran groomers, are continually leery of. Equally bothersome is the very loud 'click' when switching the clippers on. On the plus side, this new motor is really amazingly quiet. But that said, this Iron Horse doesn't clip anywhere near as close and smoothly as my old Wahl did, even on the finest setting. It'll be interesting to see how long this Iron Horse lasts. It's got along way to go to fill the shoes of my old Wahl. These things cut fast ! I have to be careful not to cut too much. These clippers didn't have guards so I called Wahl and they send me (free) a whole package of guards. I don't remember which one I'm using but it is great and I don't have to be quite as careful ! I've trimmed whishers, head, bridle path and all around fetlocks. Love these things !
