I am a certified personal trainer and pole vaulter used to training for strength and power (and like the size that it brings), so when I started training for my own Iron Man triathlon I naturally did not want to lose my hard earned lean mass. Kris's journey to becoming a Man of Iron was a perfect fit for combating this mindset showing that losing fat, gaining muscle, and being able to move one's body 140.6 miles in three disciplines is indeed very possible. His book pairs very well with his YouTube Man of Iron series (naturally), so I'd recommend pairing the two as there is even more information available to absorb through that medium. Among other things, the book covers:Injury prevention, technique tips for each discipline, weightlifting, recovery, nutrition, supplementation, and mentality (as well as his race day prep and race). Some tips I've found useful in my own training, others are definitely more tailored for what Kris did to meet his needs and less useful for a smaller person. That said, he does a great job explaining the reasoning so someone can extrapolate on the concepts-- it's also his journey so it's going to be about what he did!!I would highly recommend this as a read for anyone training for a triathlon, those who don't believe you can gain muscle and train for endurance, AND anyone who wants a great story to motivate and inspire them!
