Pluses: Gets as hot as anyone could want. Holds my fine but thick hair. Occasionally forget to turn it on but it heats quickly once I do.Minuses: No auto shut-off. Occasionally accidentally bump heat setting upwards. Tip is too short to be fully safe against burns. Have to untwist cord every few weeks.Overall assessment: Still haven't found the perfect curling iron. This one has huge barrel, is reliable, is a good value, and it works overseas (with adapter plug). It's the best curling iron I've found despite its limitations.Heats up very quickly. I read a few reviews regarding burning hair, so I keep it medium high. I always use a heat protection spray because of this earning. Hasn't fried my very fine hair too much. This curling iron is the best I've ever used. First it doesn't pull your hair. The cord attached at the base swivels so you never need to adjust it. All of the controls are out of the way so you don't turn it on or off or change heat settings. It stays the same temperature every time you plug it in (unless of course you adjust it). You do have to play with it to find out what tempeture is right for your hair but that is simple trial and error. I purchased it with a gift card figuring if I didn't like it I lost nothing. With others out there costing 100.00 plus this is a steal. I promise you won't regret it!!!This works as a decent curling iron but I detest the design. First of all, the hard tip that supposedly prevents you from burning yourself is too short. I've touched the iron several times when hot and even accidentally inserted a finger in the too-large hole in the top of it. I have a Hot Tools in the next smaller barrel size and it's grip button on the end is much longer (and safer). Next issue is the lever. It's too short. When I pick up the iron, my thumb slides onto the temperature dial and pushes the dial to a cooler temp without my being aware of it. Do this enough times without noticing, and you're not curling your hair because the barrel cooled down too much. Aaargh! Again, the Hot Tools lever is much longer so there is no chance of accidentally hitting the temperature dial. If Gold 'N Hot changed their design, I'd give it a better review but as of now... Not a chance. The curling iron gets nice and hot. One feature is that when you plug it in you must actually turn on the switch (even if it was left in the "on" position)--I guess that is to ensure that when you plug it in you actually want it on. The only thing I think could be better is its grip on the hair. I have curly, coarse hair, and it still slips off the end of my hair when I want to roll it up.Works wonderfully. Gets really hot to curl my thick stubborn hairIt appears to be adequate thus far; I just started using it. I bought it because it has dual voltage and appeared to be of reasonable quality. The last time I needed a 3/4 inch curling iron I could only find very cheap irons primarily with large barrels. I like the design of my Hot Tools iron better, but they don't make one with dual voltage. I don't understand why dual voltage is so difficult to find in a good quality iron.Gets hot and grips hair very well. I was looking for a white set with titanium and now I have one. Thanks Gold n Hot.
