This is a really nice pot. It's the 1st time owning something like this. I'm coming from an instant pot background. This thing is big. From the description I figured it would be about the size of a 12 inch skillet with taller sides. This easily takes up about 1/3 more stove and oven space as my 12 inch stainless all clad skillet. It barely fits in my oven when the same size skillet fits easily. Granted I live in a small urban apartment with a small stove/oven. With a normal sized stove this is not an issue. I'm a single guy that often cooks for girlfriend and friends in general. Normally for 3-5 people including my self. This braiser can easily feed a fairly large family. I grew up in a large family youngest of 7 siblings. This braiser would have been a good size for my mom. It's a bit over kill for me. I think I may be better off with either the dutchoven or the oval one. I have no interest in using it for baking bread, good bread is easy to come by. I am mainly using it for roasts, braising and general cooking. I am going to keep this but I would probably be better off with one of the other shapes with more height and less width. I am pondering getting one of the other ones. Thing is I'm not sure which. Going by the size of this and the dimensions listed for the others I not sure the round one will fit in my oven and the not sure what size roast or chicken will fit in the oval. Guess I am going to the market with a tape measure to get an idea on chicken dimensions.I've been cooking with cast iron skillets most of my life and growing up in a family of builders/plumbers and such I can confidently say that this is very high quality pot. It has a good weight with out being to heavy and it has very high quality glazing. The pan is amazing for braising and keeps my food hot. Cleaning was easy .This is the first pan I go for when making goulash, stew, or anything else where I need to sear meat, brown onions, etc, and then add other ingredients and let simmer, which is pretty much all my main dishes. Easy to clean, and even when I get a burnt on spot due to my oven, not the pan, I just put a little vinegar into water and let it sit for a few minutes, it comes right off with no scrubbing. They also are nice enough to put right on the table for family or guests. The burnt red color goes really well with our white dishes. This was my first Landhaus pan I bought, I now also have the dutch oven. They arrived in perfect shape, the enamel has no chips and is holding up nicely after several dinners I made. So far, I have made a stew, goulash, Chicken Marsala, and pork chops in it. Completely oven and stove top safe, easy clean up and no toxic coatings to worry about. Well worth the investment, and yet so much less expensive than the top end professional stuff, but works just great, because, I am NOT going to spend $300 on a pot. On the downside, for small people, it is cast iron and weights accordingly, but you're never going to accidentally knock this thing off the stove.I didn't know what to expect from this company, I never heard of Landhaus. I purchased based on the great reviews. I own a Le Creuset dutch oven that I've had for years, its great, love it. But I needed a braiser. When I researched Le Creuset I was reminded of the high prices. I love the Le Creuset quality but I was not going to spend that money right now. I order the Landhaus and I am very pleased that I did. The item shipped perfectly, the packaging is on point for something of this nature; very well protected. Excellent quality control. Item has very good weight & a great finish. Even the second included knob handle has good weight to it. I cooked my first meal in it the day it arrived, beef short ribs. Came out amazing. This braiser performed perfectly and clean up was easy. I must add-----"Landhaus", its just a name, dont be fooled. The item is designed in Chicago Ill. but built in CHINA! I am so tempted to remove a star from my rating because of where it's made, but I cant....this item for the price is absolutely perfect. Go ahead and yes compare it to Le Creuset or other high end enameled cast iron cookware makers. Its that good. And no, I'm not paid to say this, I've been compelled because I'm so happy with it!This is a beautiful pot. However, the diameter of its cooking surface (the inside bottom of the pot) is 9.5 inches, 10 inches if you include where the bottom of the pot curves. My current cast iron braiser has a cooking surface diameter of 10 inches straight across, not including where the bottom of the pot curves.I wanted a braiser with a cooking surface diameter that is larger than my current braiser’s - close, if not fully, 11 inches. The cooking surface diameter of this Landhaus 5.4-Quart Braiser is smaller than my current braiser. So I am returning it.P.S. it weighs 14.5 pounds empty. The cast iron is thick - about quarter inches thick on the exposed rim.If Landhaus makes a braiser that is 3.5 inches tall at most, has an honest, flat cooking surface diameter of 11 inches, interior enamel of matte black (like they have on their skillet), and a domed lid, I will buy one.Absolutely love this enamel braising dish! It is a breeze to cook in and cleans up beautifully! I have been using it over and over again since April and I really can't find a single flaw. It's very heavy like a real cast iron pot should be, and the blue enamel is so attractive. I use it on my glass top electric stove and have made everything from soups, to ratatoille, to meat dishes and everything is cooked perfectly. I love that Landhaus includes two handles with purchase so we could customize it to our style. Highly recommend this product if you want a functional enamel cast iron pot without a hefty price tag.
